In this week's Family Friday you will create story character friends from the rhyme Hickory Dickory Dock. Read our step-by-step directions to create your clock face and mouse and have a fun time learning how to tell time. Have fun!
What you need:
- Pre-made clock and mouse template (here)
- Markers/colored pencils
- Scissors
- Tape
- Brass brad (to attach clock hands so they can turn)
Step 1
Click to read Hickory Dickory Dock. Sing the nursery rhyme and touch all the pictures on the page to learn some new words and see the story come alive! You can find this book in your Footsteps2Brilliance app under Level 1 (Red) in the Learning Lyrics series.
Step 2
Print out the pre-made printable clock and mouse template (here).
Step 3
Write in the numbers on the clock and decorate anyway you like.
Cut out the arms of the clock.
Attach the arms to the clock face using the brass fastener.
Step 4
Cut out the mouse finger puppet - the template includes pieces for two mice. Decorate anyway you would like.
Tape the head and sides to each other to make the finger puppet.
Next time you sing Hickory Dickory Dock the clock hands can move to help learn about time and the mouse finger puppet can go “up the clock” and “down the clock” as you sing the song.
